You should run Billy once as Administrator in order to allow the program write access to this registry part. (Many old (great) programs don't save all settings when run as normal user). It's a bummer write access doesn't cause a proper os dialog automatically. Billy doesn't support custom DPI's. The player works, but the characters are only half shown if you put the character size in windows (dpi) larger. Also the additional control functions (which you can program yourself) are disabled. Everything Jan 15 2010 - CurtJ If you want Natty to work in Windows 7then right-click the .exe and go to properties, run as an admin, disable visual themes and desktop composition and put it in windows 98 compatibility mode. Start Natty, and set up your email account(s). Check it connects and works, then close the program. Reset all the compatibility options but keep it in windows 98 compatibility mode. Restart the program and minimise it. It should work fine. If you need to change any of the options or prefs you have to go through this process again. Great little app. Thanks Sheep people. I hear development has been suspended, but if you resume, there are a few things which I think might be nice, like: Drag and drop between multiple instances of Billy (current workaround: cut and paste via keyboard) Adding file to middle of playlist (current workaround: add file to one Billy window, cut and paste into list in second Billy window) Display song length option (current workaround show "properties" on each song, or commence play on each song) Display or calculate total playlength on a selected group of songs (current workaround: convert each to seconds, add up on calculator, convert back to minutes and seconds) But even if you don't resume development, I'm still grateful for this superb player. It seems even a bit strange that a software so close to perfection in what it does can ever exist. Just a modern UI support (XP/Vista/7 native controls skinning) and the latest bass libraries — i cannot wish for more. It looks to me like 1.0.4 will be much more useful. I especially like that you added global hotkeys and last.fm-support. PLS and stream support was very much needed. The Favorites menu is also gold! I have a few small suggestions, that I hope you will consider after making the current code stable. Just a thing that would make my interaction with Billy even smoother. * I would love it if the "Focus Billy"-hotkey could also hide Billy, if Billy is already focused. So it would actually Toggle focus of Billy. * It would be nice to be able to select several folders at once in the Add folder dialog. That way when you want to create a playlist with a few different artists you could pick them directly with the CTRL key. * It would also be nice if the Add folder dialog was searchable. Either with a filter that appears on CTRL+F or a static filter box on top of the dialog. * It's not important for me, but many of my friends see Billy and want to use it, but then end up not using it because they have some M4A files or WMA files. Perhaps these formats could be added as plugins? Some players support Winamp input codecs, maybe that's the way to go? In any case, I'd like to encourage you to continue development of this great audio player. I've tried many, many different music players of different flavors on Windows, Mac and Linux, and together with mpd Billy is my absolute favorite. It's definitely the best audio player for Windows. Billy is just made for me & my friends and anyone sharing the same idea's, hence the whole “sheep friends” name. I never had commercial goals, since the quantity of options often reflect on business success. Though the Donating button & GoogleAds on my site are a way to help with costs involved over the years, I do have thought about it for months due to idealism. I think Apple does a great job in giving many options without frustrating a user too much with options, just like Foobar though it's not that easy for middle class comp. users. Word is terrible in dealing with functionality. I am struggling with the lastfm gimmick, since I personally like it, I think the concept of last.fm is very cool, but Billy is an audio player, nothing more. So maybe that functionality has to be there as an extension, as a plugin. I am having my thoughts about this stuff.
